Carl James is a blue eyed, bright and animated young boy. He loves to joke and tease but is also tender and loving. He is very chatty and social and will tell you all about life at the Eddy household if you give him the time :). He is a very determined young man with a lot of resilience and self discipline. Having Spina Bifida has taught him to be very responsible at a very young age. He changes his own diapers on his own schedule and catheterizes himself. We try hard to teach him that this is his life and he needs to be responsible for his health, we also tell him that how he takes care of his body will make a big difference in his life. He seems to understand most of what we tell him and he tries hard to have a good attitude about all of the extra things he has to do to stay healthy. We are grateful for his wonderful attitude and his bright shining smile. Our lives would not be the same without him. We are so grateful for modern medicine and that if gave our son a fighting chance at life. That being said, everything in life has it's limits and everything in life is a balance. We strongly believe that we should be responsible for our own health where we can be and we are on that journey together to learn how to take our health back! Carl James knows that we are grateful for the doctors and the life saving and life altering surgeries he has had, but he also knows that we work hard to try to do as much as we can at home. He is growing right along with us on this journey to healing!
